DIDN’T work. Have been having this problem for months, have brought it to Apple service agent. new mouse, new OS 7. Still not working, Not acceptable for such an expensive machine, what should i do, please tell me the solution.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! It worked for me! I did the same.. RESTART, RESTART, RESTART, installed every update I could find and the SHUT DWON worked! I am so glad I found your article.. every forum I looked through suggested resetting PRAM and SMC – since I am not very high tech and new to the MAC, I don’t even know what those thing are or how one goes about re-setting them . Thank you again!

Thank you!! I had tried a restart, which didn’t solve the problem. And I’m so glad I read this, and tried a full shut down before trying all the other “solutions” out there…

Thank you! That worked perfectly. I did the restart instead of shut down and turn back on at first as well. Doh!

Hi there,
I installed pure-ftpd on 10.6.8 server and compared the read and write performance against the default xftpd.

It was much slower!
writes: xftpd ~28MB/s, pure-ftpd ~ 25 MB/s, ok that is not much, but
reads: xftpd ~22MB/s, pure-ftpd ~ 7 MB/s.

What’s wrong here?
